We are looking to engage a team of Mentors / Code Reviewers to support our students’ success. Treehouse has created an amazing set of educational products people are passionate about. This is an great opportunity to get your foot in the door as the company expands, and truly make a difference in students’ lives.  You must be a self-driven technical expert and must thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

The Mentor / Code Reviewer provides students with support and guidance to successfully complete 12 projects.

Key Responsibilities


Interacts with students in video chats and in Slack channelsAnswers technical questions regarding coursework and projects.

Code Reviewers

Reviews and grades code assignments and provides detailed responses regarding code quality.

Key Qualifications

Experience working with at least one of the following programming languages or frameworks:

  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript

  • Fullstack Javascript (jQuery, Angular.js, Node.js, Express.js)

  • Java (Spark, Spring)

  • Python (Flask, Django)

  • Swift

  • Objective-C

  • Android

  • SQL

Experience using Git and GitHub

Familiarity with

  • Creating and using SVG graphics in web pages

  • A front end build tool like Gulp or GruntWeb

  • Accessibility

  • AJAX and REST open APIs (like Google Maps)

Exceptional communication skills (English language), including:

  • Active listening

  • Proven writing and editing skills

  • Professional and confident video presence.

Learn new concepts quickly - Will need to develop expertise in the company’s products in order to guide students.

Ability to convey technical details in an easy to understand and persuasive manner, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Excellent organizational skills / time management.

Ability and desire to continually learn and grow and to help others.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results, even in a constantly changing, lean, ambiguously defined operating environment.

Position Details

Prefer Mentors within Portland, OregonRemote option will be considered once candidate is screened Position is paid hourly as an independent contractor. Weekly hours will vary based on demand.  Some schedule flexibility is needed - goal is to provide full coverage within the team.
